With a Flashpoint
​
My work with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) focused on protecting American consumers from bank fraud, identity theft, and other legal violations. That work ended abruptly when the current administration terminated my employment, along with tens of thousands of other public servants. At the same time, the tone of our politics was taking a darker turn: public officials and powerful figures openly mocked entire agencies and the Americans who worked for them, calling empathy a "weakness," and even spoke proudly about putting public servants in “trauma.”

That is not how we treat fellow Americans, and I refuse to believe that is how governments should treat their people.
That was my flashpoint.
